Hailing from Parma, Francesco Corselli (1705-1778) was one of the most outstanding personalities of Spanish musical life in the central decades of the eighteenth century. Always associated with the courtly setting, he led the Capilla Real, formed part of the Real Cámara and composed a large number of operas. From his privileged position, he played a key role in the stylistic renovation of the liturgical repertoire and in the definitive consolidation of Italian opera in Spain. This series explores the musical genres associated with his activity at the palace.
This series was initially programmed in March and April 2020.
