The 4th Twentieth-Century Spanish Music Series was mostly made up of contemporary music. The first concert consisted of a selection of recently composed pieces, including various premieres, with the exception of the works by P. Donostia and Ricardo Viñes, which are earlier from a chronological point of view, but equally unknown to audiences. The second recital featured works for various instrumental ensembles, all of which were of an experimental nature. Some of the works in the third concert were half way between tonal and atonal, although all maintain links to the past, in one way or another. Finally, the fourth concert focused on the contemporary choral repertory, with works reflecting various aesthetics.
