The lute in Europe during the Baroque era

This series took place onFrom to

Although the lute was very popular during the whole early modern period, the seventeenth century was a period of particular splendour for this instrument. The evolution of the instrument and the different performing traditions led to a change in the number of orders (strings) according to each country and slight modifications in its size and shape. This series presents a rare overview of the music composed for lute during the Baroque in Italy, France and England, while enabling different variants of this particular instrument to be heard.
