Chopin & the Schumanns: mutual influences

This series took place onFrom to

It is cliché to declare that the piano works of Fryderyk Chopin and Robert Schumann represent the pinnacle of Romantic pianism. But it is not as common to hear the music of one through his relationship –personal and aesthetic– with the other, a link in which Clara Schumann also played a part. Through five concerts, this series features some of the pieces that best reflect this web of cross influences: dedications, homages through musical quotations, complementary approaches to established genres and reception in nineteenth-century Spanish music.
