Armstrong and New Orleans Jazz

This series took place onFrom to
This year, the jazz series the Foundation organises every autumn focuses on Louis Armstrong and the New Orleans music scene during the 1920s, an encounter with the birth of classical jazz. It was in this city, and at this point in time, that a simple type of popular music was transformed into an elaborate musical artform of considerable sophistication, a process in which its most important technical and stylistic elements were directly influenced by the innovations introduced by Armstrong, who, since then, has been considered one of the reference figures in the history of jazz.
