Miguel Rivera Dorado

The Temple of Kukulkan (Chichén Itzá)

4/21/2016

The archaeologist and university professor Miguel Rivera introduces the Mesoamerican territory and civilisations to explain the existence of thousands of Maya pyramids in the Yucatán jungle (Mexico). These kinds of archaeological remains of temples, which represent the world as a mountain and symbolise dynastic power, reveal some of the mysteries of Maya culture but also point to unresolved enigmas. In the city of Chichen Itza stands the Pyramid of Kukulcan or El Castillo, in which the advanced knowledge of the Maya-Toltec civilisation in astronomy, geometry, arithmetic and mathematics combined to make the monument a perfect representation of the cosmos.
