Amador Vega

Ramón Llull and European culture

12/15/2016

In this second session, Professor Amador Vega demonstrates how the work of Ramón Llull has influenced philosophers and thinkers as well as leading avant-garde artists such as Salvador Dalí, Antoni Tàpies, Josep Maria Subirachs and Juan Eduardo Cirlot. The concept of God as "pure relation" and Llull’s invention of a formal language are presented as the legacy of his thought to modern authors, while his scientific model can be recognised in the origins of computer science. As Vega declares, Llull tried to create a "grammar, a universal language that encompassed science, religion and human knowledge".
