Manuel Forcano

Zoroaster, the Worshipper of Fire

1/19/2017

The poet and Doctor of Semitic Philology Manuel Forcano, Director of the Institut Ramon Llull, presents the figure of the prophet and poet of ancient Persia Zoroaster, describing the legends and miracles on which Zoroastrianism, "the first known monotheistic religion", is based. Among its fundaments, concepts such as free will and the purgatory and elements like the sacred fire are included for the first time. Today the main nucleus of its followers (around 150,000) are found in North-Eastern India and comprise the community of the Parsees. Its members are governed by the principles of equality and religious tolerance –although they don’t accept conversion– in relation to life and nature, work and charity, and loyalty to the family.
