What is Paleolithic Cave Art?


The lecturer in the Area of Prehistory at the Universidad de Alcalá, Javier Alcolea, addresses some of the clichés and myths surrounding paleolithic cave art. The appreciation of numerous artistic complexes in the open air, the variety of techniques and themes and the revision of the geographical and chronological context, among the latest developments in research, seem to highlight that these kinds of symbolic and graphic practices were extended to the majority of the prehistoric human groups that inhabited the old continent.
