Diego Ares, harpsichord and piano, and Cuarteto Casal

The Origin of Early Music. Soler Revived (Barcelona, 1936)

Works by A. Soler, R. Anglés, J. Freixanet, J. Gallés, M. Ferrer, F. Rodríguez and N. Casanovas

This concert reproduces the program from the homage to Antonio Soler that the Cuarteto Ibèric and the organist Joan Gibert Camins performed on 24 May 1936 at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona. Based on Joaquín Nin’s editions, the concert not only included works by Soler himself, but by other composers associated with Catalonia, combining Catalanism with historical recovery.
