J. S. Bach: Violin Partita No. 3 in E major BWV 1006
Although the seventeenth-century violin repertory usually has a figured bass accompaniment, a tradition developed in Germany that began to experiment with the instrument’s polyphonic potential. Reflecting this tradition, around 1720 Bach composed his six solo violin sonatas and partitas. Among them is this Partita No. 3 in E Major BWV 1006, in the form of a dance suite, typical of the Baroque period.
