Carlos F. HerederoPresentation of Safety last! (1922)
According to Carlos F. Heredero, the slogans “anything is possible if you really want to do something” and “Fortune favours the brave” were used to publicize the character created by Harold Lloyd, who symbolises the American model of the self-made man of the 1920s. As occurs in the case of “Safety Last!”, Lloyd’s films reflect the tireless and always triumphant quest for success by any means possible. Misunderstandings and pursuits are the recurring elements of humour in the film, featuring the spectacular building-climbing sequence, with the famous image of Lloyd clutching the hands of a large clock dangling from a skyscraper.
