Jorge Edwards

Latin Americans Names

4/18/2013

Jorge Edwards, in conversation with Jorge Eduardo Benavides, speaks about the so-called "Latin-American Boom", asserting that European writers’ interest in Latin America actually begins with Montaigne and highlighting the freedom and originality in the latter’s writing that would give rise to the Essais. Edwards declares that what differentiates an author from a third-rate writer is the discovery of a narrative tone, and that only good writers are capable of successfully combining reality and fiction, memory and oblivion.
