Trío Arbós (Miguel Borrego, violín; José Miguel Gómez, violonchelo y Juan Carlos Garvayo, piano)Beethoven’s Symphonies in Chamber Arrangements. Symphony No. 2
Symphony No. 2 in D Major Op. 36. Arrangement for piano trio by Beethoven (1806)
Although today it may come as a surprise to us, the audience’s demand prompted Beethoven to make numerous arrangements of his own works. A paradigmatic case is the Symphony No. 2, which the composer himself transformed into a genuine piano trio for professional performers. The textures of the orchestral writing of the period make this transformation particularly suitable, to the astonishment of modern listeners.
