Héctor Guerrero Padrón

Extraterrestrial Exploration

Héctor Guerrero Padrón divides his lecture into several main themes, such as man’s trip to the moon, the development of the technology needed to explore the Earth’s orbit, the exploration of the Solar System and the possibilities of exploration beyond it. He also explains the difficulties man has encountered in adapting to this new kind of exploration, the role of robotic missions and the possibilities of exploiting the resources that exist outside Earth. He emphasises the influence strategic international interests have had on the development of space missions and concludes with a description of the eventful itinerary of the space probe Philae, which formed part of the Rosetta mission and landed on a comet situated 500 million kilometres away from Earth.
