Manuel Bendala

Rome: The Wonderful Urban Landscape of the Imperial City

2/10/2015

In the classical world, people are the city, and therefore the Romans are Rome. These are the words Manuel Bendala uses to introduce his exhibition about the phenomenon of the "architecturalisation" of the city of Rome. For Bendala, the nature of the city dweller as the creator of his own ecosystem was exceptionally developed in this city, in keeping with the enormity of the political body that it generated with the constitution of the colossal Roman Empire. The result was a landscape with such solidity as an urban and architectural language that it would become a reference for the cities of the Western world to the present day.
