Javier Gomá Lanzón, Bernat Hernández and Ricardo García Cárcel

"Las Casas must be freed of his character"

6/11/2015

Coinciding with the release of a new volume in the collection of biographies “Españoles eminentes” (Eminent Spaniards) about the friar Bartolomé de las Casas, a round-table discussion was organised comprising the book’s author Bernat Hernández, the essayist and director of the Fundación Juan March Javier Gomá Lanzón and the historian Ricardo García Cárcel. As the author himself explains, the biography aims to put Las Casas in his context and presents him from a multi-faceted point of view that deals with him as a humanist, discoverer and evangelist, as well as a politician, jurist and theologian.
