Paris is the Chopinian city par excellence. Granados’s early compositional attempts in the city reflect this reality: his Álbum de melodías. París, 1888 contains a mazurka titled “¡Chopin…!”, modelled on the Prelude Op. 28 no. 7. For his part, from his French exile, in Nazi-occupied Paris, Bacarisse composed his 24 Preludios Op. 34 as a homage to the Preludes Op. 28 by the Polish composer.
