Taller Sonoro Gemella dell’acqua, by Luis de Pablo 15:32NOVEMBER 7, 2018Inspired by the verses of the Russian poet Joseph Brodsky “la musica è gemella dell’acqua”, alluding to the phenomenon of the acqua alta in Venice, this work by Luis de Pablo, whose world premiere is included in this video, pays tribute to the innumerable artists who have set foot in and used the charm of the floating city to stimulate their creativity.
Taller Sonoro anon.murus, by José María Ciria 11:47NOVEMBER 7, 2018Inspired by archaeoacoustics, José María Ciria’s anon·murus emerges as a reflection on the possibility of shaping a musical discourse based on the acoustic qualities of a certain space. Specifically, the work is inspired by the acoustics of the Cave of El Castillo, in Cantabria, famous for containing the oldest known cave paintings.
Taller Sonoro Egan-2, by Ramon Lazkano 9:51NOVEMBER 7, 2018Egan-2 was commissioned and premiered by the Taller Sonoro, to whom it is also dedicated. The work is the second piece in the cycle of the same name composed by Ramon Lazkano, a cycle that belongs to the collection of pieces titled Igeltsoen Laborategia [Chalk Laboratory]. Its title, from the Basque verb meaning “to fly”, describes the flow of a sound path, a circular project with an impossible return, aerial volumes and suspended time.
Taller Sonoro Nubilus, by Luis de Pablo 7:58NOVEMBER 7, 2018Composed for the Taller Sonoro, Luis de Pablo’s Nubilus was premiered at the Ensems Festival in Valencia in 2014. Its title, which translates from the Latin for “cloudy” or “sad”, alludes to a mood that, without being descriptive, is expressed in the score, avoiding the repetition of compositional techniques.
Taller Sonoro Pentesilea, by Jesús Torres 11:53NOVEMBER 7, 2018Commissioned by the INAEM for the Plural Ensemble, Jesús Torres’ Pentesilea is based on three elements: the diatonic clusters at the beginning of the work featuring the piano, the arabesques that articulate a large part of the discourse, and the rhythmic blocks in the piano, the main source of its motivic development.
