The fire sounds. Andreas Bick captured the sound of lava in his sound recording Fire Pattern, while the metaphor of love burning as fire appears in “Wotans Abschied und Feuerzauber”, from Wagner’s Die Walküre. Two sides to the same reality are accompanied by a play of lights that provides a shared listening experience, unusual in the concert hall.
Carles Marín, piano. Feuerklavier, from 6 Encores by Luciano Berio
Richard Devine used two hydrophones (microphones designed to be used underwater) to record the sounds of the embers burning under Lake Nottely. Using the sounds captured, he created Hydrophone Recording of Burning Embers Underwater, the work presented here together with Luciano Berio’s "Feuerklavier".
