Manuel Fraijó

The turbulent itinerary of the reform project; its successes and failures

In his second lecture about Martin Luther, the Emeritus Professor Manuel Fraijó continues the account of Luther’s biography, from the indulgences polemic until his death in 1546. The speaker analyses some of the ninety-five theses of the father of Protestantism, pointing out that they were never hung on the door of the Wittenberg church, but were sent to several notable figures of the time. He also refers to some of the most controversial episodes in his life, such as his marriage to Catalina Bora and his role in the 1525 rebellion of German peasants.
