Baptiste Trotignon, piano

Bach, Jazz and Improvisation

Improvisations on "Erbarme dich, mein Gott" of the Matthäuspassion BWV 244, and the Preludes BWV 851, 850, 861 (& Fugue) 866, by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)

“Erbarme dich, mein Gott” [Have mercy, Lord, on me] is one of the best-known arias from Bach’s St Matthew Passion. Here, Baptiste Trotignon has reinterpreted the evocation of solitude, tears and grief in a jazz version. Trotignon also performs several preludes and fugues from The Well-Tempered Clavier.
